Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold standard treatment for Insomnia. The experienced staff at Place of Dreams will guide you through our program, helping you apply, monitor and adjust to the steps outlined in CBTI. 

These steps include, but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive restructuring
  • Stimulus control
  • Sleep restriction/compression
  • Relaxation training
  • Psychoeducation

CBT-I is a collaborative process, and the skills learned in sessions require practice. Homework is a common component of treatment. Assignments in-between sessions may involve keeping a sleep diary, practising or questioning automatic thoughts or beliefs when they arise as well as improving sleep hygiene practices.

Duration of Trial

Four-week trial that includes:

  • Sleep diary and questionnaire emailed to you before your first appointment. This must be completed and returned to us before your first appointment can proceed.
  • 60-minute initial sleep assessment appointment
  • 30-minute review appointment after one week
  • 30-minute review appointment after two weeks
  • 30-minute review appointment after three weeks
  • 45-minute end of trial appointment after four weeks. Any further appointment required after this will be individually charged as required.

Additional information:
Following a successful sleep coaching program, a report will be provided to your referring specialist if applicable. A follow up questionnaire will be sent 6 months after completing the program to confirm you are maintaining your benefit.
